Courses
Who will pay for my journalism course?
Some local education authorities may stump up towards a college course. You may qualify for a career development loan, details from your local careers office or job centre. Some direct entry trainees can be funded under the Modern Apprenticeship scheme, run by your local Training and Enterprise Council. Degree courses will be funded in the usual way, apply via UCAS. For postgraduate courses, apply direct to the centre. As for finances for these and other courses, you're probably on your own, unless you can get one of a very few bursaries that might be on offer. And there is the Journalism Diversity Fund, set up to train journalists from ethnically and socially diverse backgrounds.
