Ricki is top student journalist

Ricki Dewsbury of the University of Central Lancashire was named the Student Journalist of the Year at the Press Gazette Student Journalism Awards.

He took the Scoop of the Year Award for an investigation, published in UClan student newspaper Pluto, which exposed a student involved in selling plagiarised essays to other students at several universities.

"We will hear a lot more about this journalist," predicted the judges when awarding him the News Writer of the Year award.

Natalie Whelan of Leeds University, winner of the Student Editor of the Year Award, was highly commended for the top award.
