Former journalism trainee feeds his ambition by launching food website

Trainee journalists are being invited to write for a new website campaigning on issues around food.

Chris Gaynor, who attended the noSWeat journalism training centre in London, has launched www.plentyonyourplate.com.

The aim of the site is to highlight key issues relating to food.

Chris says on the site: "Plentyonyourplate.com intends to bring you food news without the political posturing."

He adds: "The terrible plight of starvation from citizens across the world, whether it be natural or man made, shows us we have not learnt lessons from history."

The editors of the site are seeking contributors, preferably journalism students and writers who have an interest in food issues.

But this is not just a recipe or restaurant reviews site, said Chris. "We are looking for hard news stories. And the odd soft feature. A restaurant review is not totally out of the question, as long as there is a cute angle to go with it."
